Where The Truth Lies.

The Ed Harris

Well, here we are. This week we will see the UK start the process to bring the UK out of the European Union. I was one of the people that voted to stay, but despite this, I’m positive about the future. The reason for this is twofold.

One reason: people now realise that if they want something they must fight for it. People are talking about politics and ideals much more now then before the result.  Folks realise that we cannot take anything for granted. Hard earned rights and status are being pushed back by groups and organisations that have reduced issues to insults and tweets. It’s almost like the monotone language and religion has been used to belittle everything. Just go to and type feminism or Black Lives Matter into YouTube. After a few hours of looking(research), it becomes clears that there’s a movement away from rational debate toward an almost hateful attempt to undermine any attempt at discussion with facts. This brings me onto my second reason: Truth will out. You can lie as much as you want but the truth is a powerful weapon. Now, I’m not talking about opinion, I have an opinion and although that helps with questions like ‘Is sex in a car comfortable?’ it’s not useful to get a full picture

This brings me onto my second reason: Truth will out. You can lie as much as you want but the truth is a powerful weapon. Now, I’m not talking about opinion, I have an opinion and although that helps with questions like ‘Is sex in a car comfortable?’ it’s not useful to get a full picture about something like saying leaving the EU. I can be as sure as I want about something but if not backed up by facts then what use is that? I have on many occasions been wrong about things and will admit that but I know for a fact that Gravity is real and the earth is round. I will not argue that as they are facts. Over the past year, we’ve seen facts take a back seat. This looks like it may change. The most powerful economies in the world have immigrants playing a major part. There’s a reason why the USA is still the most powerful economy in the world. What we will learn in the next few years is the price of denying that fact and treating them like a threat.

I realise that people are afraid and worried but throwing facts out of the boat and the paddle of opinion will not improve the world or make anyone’s lives better. In fact, things will get worse. Think I’m full of shit? Well, take this into account: We have an ageing population and fewer young people having kids. This is what happens when no one is paying tax. Just look at Japan. A country whose economy has pretty much been shrinking for the past 25 years and for the first time ever adult nappy purchases now outstrip that of nappies for kids. So yes, I am positive that even if the facts don’t get you now they will as time goes on and let’s hope it happens before we have a nappy shortage.
