University in your 30’s

st mm

The countdown has begun! In less than one month I will be stepping onto campus at St Mary’s University Twickenham as a mature student in my 30’s.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would become a fitness addict who is obsessed with how nutrition affects the body and mind. Here I am, the grand old age of 33 starting my journey into university life. I’m beyond excited to be a Simmie and in three years a trained Nutritionist.

I’m very excited about freshers fortnight which was announced yesterday. I did find it quite funny at the events that peaked my interested from what would have done  in my 20’s.. The fancy dress parties leading onto the night club look fun but that pub quiz night caught my attention.id

I spent around one hour yesterday taking my student ID photo to send off to complete my online enrollment, I then emailed the dyslexic Centre for an assessment when I arrive and now I have nothing left to do until the 12th September. ECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in full time employment since I was 17 years old. At one point I was working two full time jobs and going to college part time. When did I Sleep you ask? Hahahahahahah Don’t be silly, I didn’t! The longest shift I did was 10am-6pm in the box office at the Old Vic, then 8pm – 8am in a night shelter in Leytonstone and then 10am-8pm in the box office at the Fortune theatre.   I might have cried all the way home that night through exhaustion. Then the next day I worked 8pm to 8am again in the shelter.  It is safe to say I did not do very well in my studies.  This time will be different, I have 8 working days left of full time employment and then I intend to focus fully on my education.  I’m will be hearing today if I got a job working weekends in a gym (free gym membership whoop) to cover my rent, then with my student loan and grants making up the rest, I can do it right this time!

I’ll be update you through freshers 🙂
