Bridget Jones’s Baby
Bridget Jones’s Baby is as far from the third Bridget Jones book as you can possible get.
I personally was not planning on watching it. ‘How could they just disregard the book like that!’
A friend I have not seen in a long while asked me if I wanted to join him to watch it with another friend. with that in mind, I thought, ‘sure, why not, I get to see my mates’. So off I went with low expectations.
Well Emma Thompson, Helen Fielding and Dan Mazer’s script blow them expectations out the window.
The opening scene is my Friday nights and I am not ashamed to say it! That is the reason we love Bridget (Renée Zellweger), we women relate to her and we want our love story, our Mr Darcy. Bridget was as idiotically adorable as ever. Mr Darcy (Colin Firth) is his awkwardly charming self and we are introduced to a new love interest which could be described as America’s Mr Darcy; Grey’s Anatomy, Mr Dreamy (Patrick Dempsey).
It is funny, witty, joyful and poignant.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend you going to see it.
